Goals Description

Ásatrú Vanatrú - Brazil (AVAB) is a Heathen religious and cultural organization that practices and promotes Ásatrú; a form of Norse paganism or folklorical religion. Asatru is an attempt to reconstruct the pre-christian religion of the Northern Europeans, known as the germanic or teutonic peoples and which includes areas from England to Germany to Sweden to Norway and Iceland. Asatru basically means "loyalty to the gods". Ásatrú is a modern name given to this faith and has been commonly accepted as a general name of our ways. There are other names that our ways are known as such as the Elder Way (Forna Seden/Forn Sed), The way of our ancestry, Religion of the Ancients, Ancient Religion, Hedensk Sed (Pagan Custom), Nordisk Sed (Norse Custom), Forn SiðR (The Old Ways), Our Troth (Troth may be translated as "faith or loyalty" which describes our devotion to our gods and they ways of our ancestors and Heathenism.

AVAB events, rituals, and meetings are open to anyone with an interest in Norse religion and culture who respects our ways and the internal laws that govern AVAB. Acording to the internal bylaws of AVAB and of the Brazilian national constitution, it is forbiden to discriminate based on ethnicity, gender and sexual choice. We do this not only to respect the law, but due to the fact that discrimination is not endorsed by our lore and as such, membership is open to everyone regardless of race, gender, sexual choice, and previous religious affiliation.

We strive to hold religious and social events for our members and friends as well as encouraging in every way possible the study of the culture of the germanic (Northern European) peoples, and their history. We hold meetings on the sacred days on the Southern Hemisphere Calendar. AVAB defines itself in terms of the most accurate reconstruction of our ways while not holding ourselves or our members to form of "dogma". We place a high value in the learning of the primary sources of our lore (i.e. the eddas and the sagas) but we also use that as a necassary base on which our ways continue to live and grow. Our standards for the inclusion of practices and beliefs are high, and must agree in spirit with the primary source material such as The Poetic Edda and any other material accepted as valid to our local universities and orgs
witch have an international interchange with us..

We reject ideologies that are foreign to our lore (such as Political Correctness and racism) and inclusion of elements from other belief systems (such as Wicca, Satanism, Amerindian religion, Greek-roman paganism, spiritism, vodoo and christianity) that have found their way into other forms of Norse paganism. We reject the idea that all gods are one. Just as if two people perform the same profession you do not think that they are the same person we do not see our gods and goddesses as the same as other gods and goddesses just because they may have similar functions.

Ásatrú is not a universal religion. We do not see the need for everyone to be Asatru and frankly not everyone is can or should be Asatru. We do not deny the gods and/or goddesses of other religions but we do prefer to be allowed to worship our gods and goddeses in peace and will always fight for that right. While we do not accept the beliefs of other paths we do not do so to critisize them, we do not wish to include them in our own ways. Once again we must state that we do not critisize other beliefs. We only ask that we be allowed to worship in our own way without interference. We ask the same respect for our ways that we give for those of others.

(Ásatrú is a Polytheistic and Animist Religion. We worship many Gods and Goddesses. For us there is no supreme god and all of our gods are not aspects of one god nor are all of our goddesses aspects of one goddess. Our gods and goddesses are individuals, just as individual as you and I. Women are not held as inferiour in our beliefs and truely they may be, and are expected to hold any position in our org that a man would hold. Our lore has many examples of strong women and goddesses, there fore we believe it should not be otherwise in our lives here on Midhgardh (earth).

Those who attempt to preach foreign values to our troth
(In special, illegal Values according to the Brazilian legal system) inside our organization
will be subject to be considered Vargr and will be banished from AVAB
forever. And no direct or indirect relationship between members and Vargr
will be allowed or will be subject of the same.

The Local Administration

Main Goals

a. Provide a alternative afiliation for independent groups, kindreds or alone asafolks of Ásatrú/Vanatrú and another Norse Traditions

b. Do our best for a good relationship between our members and another groups.

c. Provide a forum to discuss pertinent topics for the Nordisk Sed, Forn Sed, Hedensk Sed or Ásatrú/Vanatrú

d. Provide info about any pertinent topic

e. Offer a online library and bookstore with all disponible (to us) info that we can aquire about the northern traditions

f. Open a chat where the people can come and learn about the northern traditions

g. To Promote and expand the Norse Elder Way, also know as Ásatrú

h. To help in the process of the creaction of new kindreds, hopr and Garths .

i.. Develop a clerical program to certify clerics.

j. Build a comradeship ambient between our kindreds, in that way, our members will fell as they are "a part" of a great community, yet still remain with their independency.

k. Maintain online meetings that everione can join.

l.. To find and buy land, to build a Hof and start an Asatru community.

m. To Act in Defense for the integrity of our Religion as a Old Tradition

n. To fight in all possible ways for the Legal recognition of our Brazilian Government of Ásatrú as a valid religion.

o. To fight for our Individual Human Rights in accord to the Universal Declaration of the Human Rights as did by the United Nations Org (UNO) of a True Religious Freedom in our Country.

p. To make mead and then, make easy to brazilian asatruar acquire it and use in our ceremonies.

q. Develop, train and maintain a clerical staff to help in spiritual and emotional support for those in suicidal crisis,
be they in our community or not.

IX - is free the expression of any intelectual, artistic, scientific and communication activity, independently of any censorship or license;

Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Article XVIII - Everybody have the right of the freedom of though, consciousness and religion; such right includes teh freedom to change religion or belief and the freedom to manifest this religion or belief, through the teaching (education), practice, through the worship and through the observance, alone or coletively, in public or in private.

Article XIX - Everybody have the right of the freedom of opnion and expression; such right includes the right of, without any interference, to have opnions, and to search, receive and transmit information and ideas throughout any ways and independently of limits.

Article XX

1. Everybody have the right to perform meetings and pacifical associations.

2. Nobody can be under any obligation to be affiliated to any association.
